Harrisburg Hunters' and Anglers' Association

BB Gun Riflemen Team Welcomes New Shooters

Important Information about Joining Our Team...

We are excited to welcome you and your child(ren) to the safety class of the Harrisburg Hunters' and Anglers' BB Gun Riflemen Team. Daisy created the current curriculum in 2013 and we are happy to not only share this with your shooter, but also the NRA 5-Meter BB Gun Rule Book. Items in the list that include (see notes) are detailed in the Notes section on this page. Below the notes are sample graphics of items mentioned. The adjustable glasses are shown because they are talked about during the year and it is better if the shooters know what they look like. Make sure you complete the registration form by clicking the button at the bottom of the page, after seeing what is needed during the year.

Please bring the following starting the first safety class (3rd Wednesday of October):

Shooters:

  • your excitement and willingness to learn

Parents/Line Coaches:

  • Complete Online Registration

  • Shooter's birth certificate (give to Pam; must be a copy, not the original)

  • An open mind, ready to absorb a lot of information

The items above are needed during the safety class. Please bring them with you, starting the first day!

To every regular season practice/training (beginning the first Wednesday/Friday of January), bring:

Shooters:

  • Safety glasses (see notes)

  • the workbook we provide

Parents:

  • the workbook we provide

  • Safety glasses (see notes)

  • Binoculars (see notes)
  • 5 gallon bucket with seat or collapsible stool (see notes)

You may be asking,

"Parents? Why do I need these items?"

This course/team is a foundation for the future. To assure success, shooters are not alone on the line. They have a coach with them every step of the way. Our volunteer "staff" cannot be with everyone at once, so parents are line coaches. We'll explain this in more detail the first night of safety class.

The items above are NOT needed during the safety class. Please wait until January to bring them.

Notes:

* Safety glasses are not necessary if prescription glasses are worn. Shooting glasses with adjustable lenses are not permitted at the BB Gun level.

* Binoculars should allow you to see up close at 5 meters (16 feet, 4-3/4 inches). The ones labeled 5x30 or better are a good choice. The first number is the distance to the focal point; the second is the diameter of the front lens, in millimeters. 10x30 would enlarge the bull a little more.

* The 5-gallon bucket with seat is not required; however, it beats sitting on the ground. A plus to this type of seat is being able to store all your stuff inside the bucket, meaning all supplies will be remembered.

Pencils with erasers, whiteboards, and dry erase markers are available during each class. (Donations of these items are always welcome.) We request that only pencils be used, no pens (not even erasable ones).
